Ferry Alert

We will continue trialing an updated pet policy through spring 2026. Dogs on leashes are allowed in all passenger areas during this trial period, except onboard food galleys. Other pets must be in a crate or carrier. Service animals are welcome everywhere, as required by law. Livestock must stay in appropriate enclosures at all times. We are reviewing the trial policy and will provide an update on our pet policy before summer 2026. Learn more on our Pets webpage.

Ferry Alert

In June 2025, we began a seismic retrofit project at the Kingston Ferry Terminal. Construction will last through July 2026. Ferry service will operate as normal, except for a delay of 20-30 minutes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for the 9:40 p.m. Kingston to Edmonds departure. This delay may also affect later sailings.

Ferry Alert

Starting Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 29, there will be sign installation work at the Kingston terminal during off-peak travel times. We do not expect impacts to vehicle traffic. For ferry riders using the overhead walkway, we may occasionally close a small area to complete the work.

Late night and early morning weekday ferry travelers who use the State Route 104 Hood Canal Bridge will need to find an alternate route the next three weeks. Both directions of traffic on the Hood Canal Bridge will shut down each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day: Monday, May 11, through Thursday, May 14 Monday, May 18, through Thursday, May 21 Tuesday, May 26, through Thursday, May 28 (no closure on Memorial Day). During the closures, contractor crews will replace shock absorbers. These key elements of the bridge help keep both halves of the span connected. Each night of work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions. Due to the nature of the work, the bridge will not open for any traffic, including emergency response.

Ferry Alert

Starting Sunday, May 10, we are adding more service on our Port Townsend/Coupeville route. We will return to our peak season two-boat sailing schedule every Friday through Monday with Salish joining Kennewick on the route. Then beginning Tuesday, June 16, we’ll operate the two-boat schedule daily through Oct. 12. The two-boat sailing schedule is available on our website. Even with two boats on the route, vehicle reservations are recommended, and available through Sept. 19.

The #2 elevator on the M/V Chimacum is out of service. The #1 elevator is in service and accessible restrooms are available on the car deck. We'll provide updates as conditions change.

The Edmonds terminal restrooms in the lower area near the supervisor's office are temporarily closed. This was done to prevent back flow to a storm drain. Restrooms located at the upper terminal are available for public use. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Updates will be provided as conditions change.

Due to a main line water leak with Tacoma utilities, the restrooms will be out service while the water is shut off at Point Defiance on Wednesday, May 13. There will be 2 honey-buckets (1 ADA) available for customer use in front of the restrooms.

Elevators 1 and 2 at Colman Dock remain out of service due to a mechanical issue. The Alaskan Way #4 Elevator and the Pier 50 elevator (along the front of the building) are both in service and available for customer use. We are working with vendors to get the other elevators repaired and will provide updates as conditions change.
